The Inflection Point: Navigating Change in High Level Author Businesses
with Becca Syme
Why do some authors successfully scale their businesses while others stay trapped in static or slow growth? The answer isn’t best-practice tactics or the strategies that worked for others. It’s the correct fix that solves the problem your business is having.
Join Becca Syme, who has individually coached thousands of authors, for an in-depth masterclass on the inflection points of an author business, where significant or sudden growth happens. You’ll discover which inflection points are ahead of you, which you have already passed, and focus on meaningful growth for your future.
You’ll learn how to focus your energy where it matters most and develop the mindset and skills to build a thriving author career by matching the problems and fixes that correctly align for sustainability and success.
Wired For Story: What Your Reader’s Brain Really Craves, and How To Deliver It
with Lisa Cron
Imagine knowing what we’re hardwired to crave in every story we encounter, what hooks readers from pre-school to 80, and what keeps them turning pages. The answer is a game-changer, especially since the secret to writing a compelling story has very little to do with the surface plot or learning to “write well.” We’ll explore what the reader’s brain is hungry for, why, what a story actually is, and why writers are therefore the most powerful people on the planet. The result? You’ll be able to zero in on what your story is really about before you write word one (or if you’re in the midst of your umpteenth rewrite, before you write another word). You’ll not only produce a more powerful novel, chances are you’ll drastically reduce your rewrite time.
Promotion Planning & Pacing Your Marketing
with Ines Johnson
In this masterclass, you’ll learn how to create a sustainable promotion plan that works with your writing schedule, not against it. We’ll break down how to pace your marketing across your release cycle, so you’re not burning out during launches or disappearing between books.
You’ll also explore how to layer in direct sales (if that’s part of your strategy), including how to think about offers, timing, and reader flow.
This session is designed to help you move from reactive marketing to intentional promotion, so your books keep working for you long after release day.
Lunch
After a morning of big ideas, we’re feeding you well. Sit down to a South of the Border feast and keep the conversation going over great food.

The full schedule will be released on our website no later than July 1st. You can view the general overview here. You can also scroll up to the speaker section of this page and click on any speaker’s listing to see their workshops.
About six weeks prior to the conference, registered attendees will have access to our fabulous conference app. This handy little tool, accessible on your phone, laptop, and/or tablet, contains the entirety of the conference schedule, complete with workshop descriptions, maps of the venue, and networking areas where attendees can chat, plan meet-ups, and get to know each other even before arriving at the TradeWinds.
Additionally, for your convenience, each day, there will be a large poster of the daily schedule by the registration table in the Grand Colonnade.
We are a laidback event at the beach–that means you can leave your suits and high heels at home (unless you want to bring them!). Most people dress business casual–think sundresses, khakis, and other comfortable clothes. Please note that the workshop rooms can be chilly, so we recommend bringing a light jacket or sweater.
Our conference feeds you well! The following are included in your registration fee: two dinners (Wednesday and Saturday); two lunches (Thursday and Friday); four snack breaks; four happy hours; and two ice cream socials–PLUS light refreshments at Meet Our Sponsors Happy Hour and an open bar at Saturday Night Karaoke! Plan to have Thursday and Friday dinners and Saturday lunch on your own.
Sure! Many of our attendees bring the family and make it a vacation before or after the conference. Our group rate at the hotel extends well before the conference begins and a few days after it ends.
Please note, only registered conference attendees may attend workshops or take part in any conference-related events, including evening activities. We do offer companion meals for non-registered family and friends who want to join us for the conference meals. After you register, you’ll receive a link to purchase those.
Hotel amenities, including the pools, slide, and beach cabanas, are reserved for registered hotel guests.
We’re so glad you want to chat with our fabulous industry friends! There are few different ways to set up meetings. First, many companies will include scheduling links in pre-conference emails–use them! Second, we recommend making those appointments when you visit sponsor tables at Meet Our Sponsors Happy Hour on Thursday afternoon. Finally, our industry guests want to talk with you–so don’t hesitate to approach them during meals, between sessions in the Grand Colonnade, or at the Network at NINC Suite. Please do be respectful and don’t interrupt if industry reps are speaking with other attendees.
